Keap Friends Mini Gift Guide!

Three holiday gift ideas that celebrate independent craft

One big request we heard from you in this summer's Keaper Survey was for more recommendations of products and companies that we like.

For new ideas for holiday gifts, consider these three friends of Keap. They are all small independent businesses who we know personally and care deeply about the integrity of their work.

Degen — Knifty Knitwear

I met Degen through a small business course a few years ago. I learned about the incredibly creative ways she runs her company to foster real community around a shared passion for knitting. I think there's a lot to learn from Degen in designing the humane social networks of the future.

I also love her knitwear patterns (which you can buy and craft yourself). The quality of the items she makes is exceptional, and my wife reminds me frequently that this is her favorite gift she's ever received. So guess what I am getting her this year?

Dandy Farmer — A Tree Treat

We first met Dandy Farmer owner Matt almost a decade ago, back in our Canal Street Market days. His pieces have been a go-to gift for me over the years. The deep affection with which he cares for his trees (and the planet) comes through in their presentation as gift recipients.

Low-maintenance options—like Podrik the Buddhist Pine (Podocarpus macrophyllus), which graces our studio dining table—and pet-friendly trees are available.

Saipua — Sapient Soap

Many old time Keapers may remember past mentions of Sarah's company and her entire project that combines elements of regenerative agriculture, art practice, hospitality, craft, and education. I remain a fervent fan and continue to use and recommend her soap any chance I get.

My personal go-to is the Rose Geranium, which you can get in this lovely gift set.

I hope you find these small business suggestions helpful! We'll work to find more ways to share recommendations with you.

Happy holidays!
— Harry from Keap, Steward-Owner

We left social media in 2021 because we found its current mechanics didn’t align with our purpose to facilitate connection to the natural world, our loved ones, and our own spirits. Since then, our newsletter has become a vibrant place for healthy conversation around topics ranging from alternative business ownership models to happy hour cocktail recipes.

What our readers say about it

“It’s very thoughtful and not sales-y like all other marketing newsletters.”

“I like reading how a business is trying to be as progressive as possible in a capitalist system.”

“I normally delete emails from businesses but with the Keap newsletter I was actually interested in reading through! Made me feel that you guys really care about us and the work you do."
