A low-waste approach
Nature works in regenerative cycles, with each participant giving back more than it takes. Learning from this, we are working to remove all waste from our business.
Compost
Materials that biodegrade help create regenerative, healthy cycles within our ecosystems.
We use either mushroom packaging or
FSC-certified cardboard inserts
for our subscription shipments. You can pop either of these and the box straight into the compost bin (our
shipping label is home compostable, too).
We also use
PureLabel's biodegradable
labels for our candles for our classic icons and base, and for our tealight and shipping labels.
REUSE
Our candle holders are easy to repurpose as drinking glasses—every element is easy to remove. Our labels have low adhesion, and we use certified-organic beeswax instead of glue for our wicks, for easier removal.
RECYCLE
If you can't reuse your glass, we encourage you to recycle it. Check with your municipality for any local
glass recycling requirements.

Shipping Boxes
Our shipping boxes are made from corrugated cardboard and soy ink. They can be safely added to your compost
pile (best to cut them up a bit), or recycled.

Shipping Labels + Tape
We use PureLabel's biodegradable thermal labels and tapes for our boxes. The labels will compost in home
compost piles. Certified compostable: ASTM D6400 and EN 13432

Molded Pulp
We use 100% recycled newspaper-based molded pulp for some of our subscription shipments. You can pop it
straight into the compost bin (don't forget that our box and shipping label is compostable, too)
Since it's a paper product, it can also be recycled along with the box.

Reuse
Cotton Bags
Our cotton bags are made from GOTS- and Fairtrade-certified organic cotton and are best reused. They make
great bags for buttons, coins, or other small items you may want to keep together in a drawer.
Note: Some municipalities may be able to compost cotton, so please check locally.

Printed
All of our printed materials are printed on responsibly forested paper sources using soy and vegetable-based
inks, and even recycled paper sources for our zine.
You can compost these, recycle them, or repurpose for home crafting projects.

Gift Boxes
Our black gift-boxes are made from ~80% recycled content and are fully recyclable.
Of course, they also make a great storage container for organizing around the house or desk, or for packaging
future gifts.

WASTE
Wax & Fragrance
The majority of the coconut wax in your candle should burn as the
fuel for your flame.
Follow our reuse instructions to remove remaining wax, and to be safe,
this small amount should be put in the trash.

Wicks
Similarly to wax, the wick should be fully burned when your candle is done.
The remaining metal base is made from tinplated steel (the same as food cans) which is
highly recyclable due to its
magnetic properties which make it easy to reclaim.

Glass Tumblers
Our candle holders are easy to repurpose as drinking glasses.
If you can't reuse your glass, we encourage you to recycle it locally or even give them to a local charity
store or as a gift to a friend.

Tealight Tins
For reuse, you could even clean them out and consider using them for storing travel size products. Since
they're made of tin you can also put them in recycling (tin is highly reclaimed), though check with your local
recycler due to their small size.
