Still Small Enough to Fit Around a Picnic Table

Reflecting on Eater’s coverage of Keap

It appears the secret may be out

We were thrilled to read Bettina Makalintal’s recent story about Wood Cabin in Eater.

Sitting in our studio with a team still small enough to fit around a picnic table, it was a bit of an out-of-body experience to hear us described as a company that has “arrived,” so to speak.

The two unspoken sub-storylines

1) This story was the result of a long-term strategy we started in 2021 to step away from social media and toward more creative and humane ways for people to discover us.

2) This is all built on love. We feel a deep affection for the restaurants we get to work with. Reading the piece, I also imagined the smile it might bring to longtime Keapers who have been supporting Keap for years and feel a vicarious sense of pride in this good fortune.

If you joined us from this Eater story (or from the reference to it in TheSkimm), welcome aboard!

To all of you, thank you for making this journey possible.

With gratitude,
— Harry from Keap, Steward-Owner

We left social media in 2021 because we found its current mechanics didn’t align with our purpose to facilitate connection to the natural world, our loved ones, and our own spirits. Since then, our newsletter has become a vibrant place for healthy conversation around topics ranging from alternative business ownership models to happy hour cocktail recipes.

What our readers say about it

“It’s very thoughtful and not sales-y like all other marketing newsletters.”

“I like reading how a business is trying to be as progressive as possible in a capitalist system.”

“I normally delete emails from businesses but with the Keap newsletter I was actually interested in reading through! Made me feel that you guys really care about us and the work you do."
