Two Years off Social Media

This post was originally shared in our email newsletter on January 27, 2023.

Two years ago, we closed our social media accounts

In our words back then:

We started Keap to prioritize connection: to the natural world, to our loved ones, and to our own spirits. In knowing this deeper meaning behind our work, we often ask ourselves what’s stopping us from feeling true connection in our own lives. The answers are plentiful, but one common thread often emerges: addictive technology that keeps us distracted and restless.

When we announced our move away from Instagram, many of you generously shared your personal relationships with social media, and your journeys away from it. We’d love to hear how it’s been going. What has improved since you made specific changes? What challenges have you faced? Feel free to reply to this email to express your thoughts on this topic.

A compilation of quotes from Keapers on how they feel about us leaving social media.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be reflecting on our experience since leaving social media and address questions we often hear on this topic. Questions like, can a small business really survive without social media? If not through social media, how do you connect with customers and get the word out? And many more, which we look forward to unpacking with you all. Spoiler alert: we are not going back!

Here’s to a year of building real social connections!

More on this topic

If you enjoyed this article, you might enjoy our not-quite-weekly free newsletter where we share our lessons on our journey toward our regenerative vision, product launches, and behind-the-scenes happenings.

We left social media in 2021 because we found its current mechanics didn’t align with our purpose to facilitate connection to the natural world, our loved ones, and our own spirits. Since then, our newsletter has become a vibrant place for healthy conversation around topics ranging from alternative business ownership models to happy hour cocktail recipes.
